Bank details on payments
When a payment goes in or out through a bank account, you can record how it was made: the method, cheque number and date, bank reference, and the other party's bank. These details print on the voucher and help with bank reconciliation.
Where it appears
A Bank Details panel appears when you choose a bank account on:
- Payments Received
- Payments Made
- Expense Payments Made
- Asset Payments
- Income and Outcome Vouchers
- Advance Payments (payroll)
The fields
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Payment Method | Bank Transfer, Cheque, Card, Online or Cash |
| Cheque No and Cheque Date | Required for cheques |
| Bank Reference | Transfer or transaction number from the bank |
| Their Bank and Their Account / IBAN | The customer's or supplier's bank |
The voucher page shows a Bank Status: whether the voucher has been Reconciled. The Cheque Register report lists all cheques.
Currency rule
A voucher posted to a foreign-currency bank account must be in that account's currency:
This bank account is in USD; record this voucher in USD, or first move the money with a bank transaction (exchange).
Locked after reconciliation
Once a voucher is part of a completed bank reconciliation, it can't be changed or deleted until that reconciliation is undone.
