Branches and cost centers

ئەم بابەتە هێشتا وەرنەگێڕدراوەتە سەر زمانەکەت، بۆیە وەشانە ئینگلیزییەکەی پیشان دەدرێت.

Run several branches, shops, sites or departments in one company and see the profit, costs and budget of each one, side by side. Zhmara X does this with projects: every transaction belongs to a project, and the Cost Centers & Branches feature of your plan adds the tools to split costs and compare results.

What you get

With your plan's Project module With the Cost Centers & Branches feature
Create projects (up to your plan's limit) Profit and Loss by Project: every project in its own column, with a total
Every document and every posting belongs to a project Split one document between projects: each line of a manual journal, journal adjustment or expense can go to its own project, for example rent shared 60/40 by two branches
Most reports can be filtered by project Your own word: call projects Branch, Cost Center or Department everywhere in the app
Budgets per project, year-end closing per project Project columns in the General Ledger, Account Transaction and the journal entries on documents

The Cost Centers & Branches feature is shown on the pricing page. When your plan includes it, turn it on with the Cost Centers & Branches switch in Settings › Preferences › General. While it is off (or not in your plan), documents still carry one project each and the tools above are hidden.

Setting it up

  1. Turn it on and choose your word. In Settings › Preferences › General, turn on Cost Centers & Branches; the list What do you call your projects? appears under it: Project, Branch, Cost Center or Department. Users with the Company Profile edit permission can change both (also in the setup wizard). The rest of this article says "project".
  2. Create your projects in Projects section › Projects, one per branch, site or department, for example Erbil Branch and Duhok Branch. See Projects.
  3. Pick the default in Settings › Organization › Default Project: new documents start with it.
  4. Optionally set a budget per project. See Budgets.

Everyday use

  • On every invoice, bill, receipt, payment, voucher and stock adjustment, choose the Project where it happened.
  • To split a cost, add one line per project on a manual journal, journal adjustment or expense and choose each line's project. Lines start with the document's project.
  • Stock found, lost or damaged goes to the project chosen on the stock adjustment or stock count.

Reading the results

  • Profit and Loss by Project (Reports › Accounting & Finance) compares all projects for a period. Click an amount to see the entries behind it. See Financial statements.
  • Filter the profit and loss, trial balance, general ledger and most other reports by one project.
  • With all projects shown, the General Ledger and Account Transaction name the project of every entry.

Income and expenses are exact per project. Cash, bank, stock and customer or supplier balances are shared by the whole company, so a balance sheet for one project may not balance. Compare projects with the profit and loss.
